Group and Helpline background
- Survivors Swindon has been operating a weekly telehone helpline since 1991, which has expanded to take calls daily.
- A male survivor support group has met every week, since 1991.
- A second male survivor group started in June 2006
- A female partners group started in August 2006
- Over 700 men have experienced the unique healing process we provide since 1991.
- More than 3,00 men have attended counselling sessions since 1991.
- 8,248 telephone calls were taken in 2005.
Personal background
- Over 20 years direct experience of supporting and enabling male survivors to over their past histories of sexual abuse/rape.
- Facilatating both weekly support groups, in junction with another member of staff, giving a deeper inside knowldge and awareness of male survivor issues.
- Providing more training to Police, Social Services, NHS staff and other agenices every year, around the UK, than any other survivor agency.
- Organising the Annual March and Rally against Child Sexual Abuse, and still playing a significant role in publicising and raising awareness.
- Arranging retreat workshops, for workers and male survivors, held by Mike Lew, author of Victims No Longer, and other support workshops
