Hundreds of boys were placed into the 'care of Ralph Morris, 'head' of Castle Hill School, based in Shropshire, England, which was run under the guise of an independent school for young boys with behavioural and learning difficulties.

In 1991, Morris was jailed for 12 years on charges of rape, sexual and emotional abuse, which had been going for years, yet the authtorities failed to listen to the young boys who were subjected to the abuse carried out by Morris and others. The abuse went undiscovered for eight years, despite complaints being made.

Twenty five local boroughs placed children there, at a cost of over £19.000 per child per year.

Somerset Council Social Services:       (£152.000)

Morris and other staff abused hundreds of boys, leaving behind a trail of destruction and despair amongst the boys sexully and physically abused whilst supposedly placed in a safe, and nurturing envrionment.

Morris's qualifications were bogus, yet despite there being cause for concern already raised by previous boys in the home, the Education Departments failed to check on his qualifications, and also failed to check that when only licensed to 'teach' 39, he had 60 children in that place.

Millions of £ pounds are spent on Sex Offenders every year, undergoing "therapy" in specialist units and prisons, yet very little is spent on services who support survivors of sexual abuse/rape.

In 1992, we became involved in a consultancy and training role with REACHOUT, a telephone support service based in Edgware, London, which was set up to provide support to CH 'students' and our role was to play a part in ensuring helpline workers were trained in being able to support and work with male survivors.

Sadly, after 15 years of supporting Survivors, REACHOUT is no longer operating, due to illness, and lack of resources.
