STATEMENT

This weekend residential retreat is for non-offending adult male survivors of sexual child abuse and sexual assaults.

We aim to provide you with a recovery experience in a safe, powerful environment of shared healing, as the weekend focuses on the reality of recovery as can only be shown by being with and around fellow male survivors.

The weekend provides a variety of healing activities including group discussions, sharing of stories, anger work, other emotional expression, shared creativity, relaxation and even FUN in a safe, nurturing environment.

This event is not a subtitute for therapy, or group sessions, but is intended for men actively engaged in their own recovery work.

Please also be aware that the weekend can generate strong emotions, so it is recommended that you have access to someone to talk with, be that therapy or have a counsellor willing to meet with you after the event, if such a meeting is required.

It would also be advisable to ensure that on leaving on the sunday that you take a day or two off work, so you can spend some time processing what happened during the weekend. I know that it's not always possible, but please consider it

There are THREE primary rules that we insist upon, which are as follows:

1. Maintain confidentiality between the group. What is said during the weekend stays between those present!
2. NO violence, or threats of violence directed towards anyone, inclduing yourself.
3. NO illegal drugs allowed at anytime during the weekend.

Considerable attention has been paid in creating a safe, nurturing environment respectful of participants' needs, and that remains our intention to provide that and this will be our fouth year at this great venue.

FULL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. BOOKING.
  • On making a booking, a refundable deposit is payable, with the final balance expected 30 days or more before the arrival date.
  • For bookings made at short notice the full amount becomes due immediately upon receipt of your booking form.
  • Subsequent cancellation will incur Cancellation Charges as set out in paragraph 6 below.
  • Your booking is not considered definite and no contract will exist between you and SURVIVORS SWINDON until your payment has been received.
  • The price stated for the Retreat is the exact amount to be received by us, irrespective of fluctuations in currency or bank transfer charges you might incur.
  • If you pay by electronic transfer, please instruct your bank to charge all costs to you, otherwise there will be a shortfall in the amount we receive.
  • Please download the booking form and payment information direct from the webpage, or contact us to send you one by landmail.

    2. CONFIRMATION OF BOOKING.
        Confirmation will be sent to you by email or landmail, once payment has been received.

    3. ACCOMMODATION.
        All accommodation is in single rooms, ensuite, with towels and tea/coffee making facilities available.

    4. YOUR TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS.
        All travel arrangements are your responsibility and at your own cost.

    5. INSURANCE & HEALTH.

  • You need your own personal health insurance and should provide us with those details in case of emergency.
  • Your insurance should cover you for cancellation, sickness, losses and all the usual risks.
  • You should also consult a doctor to check that you are sufficiently fit and healthy to undertake any activities that we may arrange during the weekend.
  • Please be sure to advise us of any health conditions before you book.
  • If you experience any injury during the retreat, then you must desist immediately and consult a member of Survivors Swindon team.
  • Liability is not accepted by Survivors Swindon for any injury that may occur on the retreat, as there are no safety risks involved over the weekend.

    CONTRAINDICATIONS: This weekend retreat is not a substitute for therapy or counselling, and should not be treated as such.

    6. CANCELLATION BY YOU.
        You may cancel your booking at any time, providing the cancellation is made by the person submitting the booking form and is notified to us in writing. Cancellation will take effect the day such notification is received by us.

  • PLEASE NOTE: If such cancellation is made within less than 30 days before the retreat, we will retain 100% of the cost of the retreat.
  • If another person can be found to take your place, we may offer you a 50% refund at our discretion.
  • Once a booking has been accepted no payment is refundable unless the retreat is cancelled.
  • Once the retreat has begun, no refund or part refund or unused portion of the retreat will be repaid in the event of cancellation by you.
  • If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of your Insurance Policy, you may be able to reclaim these charges.

    7. AMENDMENTS BY SURVIVORS SWINDON.
        Occasionally, changes may have to be made which we reserve the right to do. Changes are normally minor and we will advise you at the earliest possible date. We do our utmost to provide accommodation suitable to your needs. If a significant change becomes necessary, we will inform you as soon as reasonably possible if there is time before you arrive.

    8. CANCELLATION BY SURVIVORS SWINDON OR VENUE OWNERS.
          We, or the venue owners, reserve the right in any circumstances to cancel a retreat, in which case we offer a full refund of all monies paid. In no case will we cancel a retreat booking less than FOUR (4) weeks before the weekend retreat date, except for reasons of force majeure, major illness, or failure on your part to pay the final balance.

    9. OUR LIABILITY TO YOU.

  • We accept responsibility for ensuring that the retreats are supplied as described and services are to a reasonable standard.
  • We DO NOT accept any liability for cancellations, delays or changes beyond our control; participants' medical or psychiatric conditions which may develop during or subsequent to the retreat; loss of, or damage to, personal property of participants.

    10. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS FOR SURVIVORS SWINDON RETREATS.
          In order to be accepted on the weekend retreat we request that you complete and return the booking form.

    11. COMPLAINTS.
          If you have a problem during your retreat, please inform the group leader immediately, who will endeavour to put things right. Please note that we cannot be responsible for the individual behaviour of any group member or other guests sharing the Manor house accommodation, but please bring any disputes regarding noise etc to our attention immediately.
